White Christmas

Hey everyone, just wanted to say Merry Christmas. Mom and Allen made it out here ok. We are having a good time. Tomorrow we go down to Old Faithful. I can't wait. They have like 20 inches of snow. I'm going to play in it. Well that's all for now. Later.

4 Wolves

Yes you read that right I saw 4 wolves today. And they were walking right down the middle of the road in front of us. It was the coolest part of the day, other than the weather. I got one picture that was ok. I'm going to get some more from Karen. It was getting dark when we saw them. So as for the rest of the day, we took a snowcoach down to Old Faithful. There was snow every where as you can see in my pictures. It was so pretty. When we got there we hurried and ate and then we were off to the canyon area. It was beautiful, as you can see. On the way we saw 3 eagles, 2 coyotes, bison, elk, wolves, and lots of birds. Which I don't remember all the names but they were cool. I played in the snow alot. I didn't make any snowmen because it wouldn't stick together. But I made a snow angel. Well overall today was awesome. We had a good trip, not bad for a day of work. Tomorrow is going to be awful because we start taking next winter reservations and it is going to be so busy. Well thats all that's new with me. Later

Internet Works!!!!

Guess what everyone my Internet is working. YAY!!! Finally I am able to get on in my room, download pictures, and check my email without waiting in line. So anyways tomorrow I'm going down to Old Faithful. We are taking a snowcoach down for work. And we get to go free and we also get paid for the day. I think that might just be one of the hardest days I will have to work. Just kidding. I'm really excited about going. And so now since I have the Internet I will be able to but my pictures on tomorrow night. Yesterday we went to town, Bozeman, to get away maybe for the last time this winter if it starts to snow a lot. Last night I went to dance class, we are learning how to ballroom dance and we also did some line dancing. It was a lot of fun. Then last night, I don't know if we were just crazy or what. But we went out to see the meteor shower. It was around 8 degrees. A little cold. I don't think I have ever had that many clothes on. But it was really cool to see. We didn't see that many but we came back home before it got to cold because we were freezing. We ended up staying out there for 2 hours. But the peak time they said wasn't until 2 am. And we didn't want to stay that long. We had like 8 covers on us. But it was fun. Well that's all thats new with me. Later.

A Little Cold

This morning I woke up and it was -6 degrees outside. It was so cold. I woke up in the middle of the night freezing because Karen opened the window because she was hot. Then she shut it and turned up the heat when we realized just how cold it was outside. So I was asking myself "What am I doing in Yellowstone in the winter when I don't like the cold?" Well it is pretty that's why I guess. And it really is. It has snowed off and on for the last couple of weeks. Up here at Mammoth it snows and then melts so I haven't been able to make a snowman. Sad. But other than that. Mom and Allen are coming out in less than 2 weeks and I can't wait. It will be so much fun. We have a lot of activities we are doing. So I will but some pictures up after they are here. Anyways the other night I was nicely woke up at 4am because a coyote was outside our dorm howling. He was really loud too. So I watched him for a little while until he moved out of the view of my window. It was a scary way to wake up. They tell me to just wait for when the wolves come around. That is really scary. I hope that I do get to hear them and also get to see them. I'm always at work when people spot them. Well I hope everyone else is staying warm and remember me out here freezing. :)

Snowing Everyday!

I was able to get some of my pictures on here. The Internet is a little slow so I couldn't get them all. But I put the ones that I liked the most. Of course they are of me. :) Today I went out into the park. We headed out toward the Northeast Entrance toward Cooke City. We had breakfast there and then came back into the park. There was snow all over. We could still see ground, but it was really pretty. We saw 6 coyotes, bison, and elk. The last two coyotes we saw were eating. Look at the pictures. It was really cool. We stayed for a while to see if a wolf would come but one never did. Sad. It was a good day, had lots of fun. Well I hope that the pictures work and I will try to get more on later. Bye

Ok, Today was Awesome!!

Today was great. It snowed. It was so pretty. I could hardly see across the street. We have a couple of inches. I tried to make a snowman. But the snow doesn't stick. So that wasn't fun. But I went walking in it. I played volleyball tonight it was a lot of fun. Well I hope everyone is doing good. Talk to ya all later.

Back in Yellowstone

I'm back in Yellowstone and guess what there is snow everywhere. It is so pretty. There are places you can still see the ground but there is snow!!! That makes me happy. My plane flight was ok, the second plane was a little scary because it was jumping around a lot. Well at least to me it was. I'm so glad that I got to come home for Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone. It was a little hard coming back but the snow helped me. It was a busy week and it went by really fast but I had a good time. Well hope everyone is doing well. Surprise!! I'm Home!

As most of you know, I'm home. I came home to surprise Mom for her Birthday. She had no idea. I flew for the first time. A little scary until I was on the plane. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Actually it was a little fun. The scariest was the landing I thought. So I got home at 1:30am. We had to wake Mom up. Allen went in and told her she had to come out and see what he got her for her birthday. She said Not now, in the morning. So he insisted that she come out. So she did and she started saying "No, No, what are you doing here?" It was funny. I can't believe we kept it a secret all this time. I have had this planned since August. So thats all that is really new. I fly back out on Sunday. So hopefully I get to see everyone. And if I don't I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. And when I get back I'll have my computer so I'll be able to but pictures on here. Later

Scary Hotel

So Friday night some of us stayed in the hotel. We watched the Shining and then we went walking though the hotel. It was a little scary. Nothing happens that was not normal. The night guard was there and he came and knocked on the window so that was a little scary. But after we watched the scary movie we watched a happy one. So it was nice. It was a lot of fun. We did end up sleeping a little, which I didn't think would happen. Then I was going to go on that 12 mile hike yesterday, but it snowed. YAY!!!. It was suppose to be worse then it was so we didn't end up going. But seeing a little snow made my day. So that's really all that is new. Hope everyone is having a good week. Later

Long Time

I know it's been a while since I've written anything. Well not much as been going on. I have been working Monday thru Friday. Its been ok on some days and horrible on others. Tomorrow we are having a sleepover at the hotel. I think it is going to be scary. We are watching scary movies and there have been many things happen in this hotel that they say it is haunted. Very scary. Hope nothing happens. Then on Sunday, I was invited to go on a hike. He told me that is was all down hill, so we will see. It is like 12 miles, so I might be in a little pain after. But he is patient so that's good. Well I will write how that goes on Monday. I hope everyone is doing ok. And I'll talk to ya later.

Hello

On Saturday I went to the Tetons again. This time we just drove through. It was really pretty again. That is probably the last time I get to go down there. The roads close this Sunday. It was a lot of fun. Yesterday I went hiking. It was 44 degrees. A little cold at times. I had 3 layers on, so it was ok as long as I was moving. I went on 3 hikes. Overall I hiked 7 miles. I'm a little sore today. So I hope everyone is doing ok and I miss you all. And I'm still working on trying to get some pictures. Later.

Tetons

Yesterday I went out through the park. We went to the Tetons. It was so pretty because there was snow all over them. At the moment I don't have any way of putting pictures on here. I am trying to find someone to let me use there computer. I went down to Old Faithful and it was 25 degrees and then when we went to Debois, WY. (that's where we ended up going, I was helping someone move.) It got up to 91 degree. A big change. I was wearing my hoodie and a jacket and it was so hot down there. Well I hope everyone is ok. Snow!!!

Hey everyone, I made it back out to Yellowstone. It is awesome because there is snow on the mountain tops. It also snowed yesterday. 10-17-07. It was really coming down and sticking. But by last night it had melted. Sad. It's a lot different out here, not as many people are here. I had to move in yesterday. I got my own room. That was exciting. Well the high for today is 35- 40 degrees. A little chilly. This weekend I'm going on a hike. It is going to be a little hard because I think I will have lots of clothes on. Thanksgiving

This weekend the family came over and we had Thanksgiving Dinner. It was a lot of fun. Having the memories of that Thanksgiving will help me when I don't get to be home for the real Thanksgiving. I only have a two weeks before I start working again in Yellowstone. I'm excited about going back. I think I have been ready for a while. But I love spending time with everyone. I'm going to miss everyone when I get back. But I am very grateful that I'm getting the chance to work in Yellowstone and also that I was able to come home for a month and see everyone. Home

As most of you know, I'm home. It has been fun to get to see everyone. That's really all I have been doing. I can't wait til this weekend when my family is getting together for my Thanksgiving dinner. Since I won't be here for Thanksgiving. I'm really not so happy about the weather here in IL. It has been hot. It didn't even get this hot all summer in Yellowstone. But that's ok. When I get back to Yellowstone there will probably be snow on the ground. That will be awesome. Wisconsin

Hey everyone, I'm in Wisconsin. I made it though my 20 hour drive. The first day all it was doing was raining. Not so fun. The next day it was very nice. I met up with Mom and Allen on Friday night. It was good to see them. Then on Saturday, Matt and Anne came up to visit. We took a duck ride. Where it drives on the roads and go into the water. It was nice. Then Monday, we went to Matt and Anne's house. It has been great getting to see them and hanging out. Mom and I aren't really doing much but hanging out and relaxing. It has been wonderful. Almost Time to Come Home!

This weekend I went out to Roosevelt with the Fab 5. We stayed the night out there and just spent some time together before Me and Jessica go home. It was a lot of fun. Well until Saturday, when we rode on a 2 hour horseback ride. Yep I went on a horseback ride. And let me tell you, I am sore. Not just a little but a lot. It was worse than hiking 8 miles. But I still went out today and hiked. I was trying to walk off the pain. It was only a 5 mile hike that was mostly flat, so it wasn't that bad. That was my last hike before I go home. :( But that's ok. I will do more next summer. I am all packed except for the stuff I need this week. And I can't wait to see all of you. Later.

Sorry Long Time!!

I have a week left here!! In a way it doesn't seem like it has went by so fast, but in another way if feels like I have been here forever. I can't wait to get home and see everyone. I'm so excited. It is going to be totally different here when I come back. There is going to be snow and not as many people that I know. That's ok I am still really excited. Sorry I haven't written on here in a while. I have been really busy with hiking and getting in my 100 miles Also working and getting stuff ready to come home. I am up to 117 miles. :) Last Tuesday, I went to slough creek and hiked it was a 6 mile hike. It was so pretty. Other than that I have been working and hanging out with people. It is really wierd to think that this group of people will never be at the same place again. Then on Sunday, after church, we went on a 6.6 mile hike. It was going to be 10 miles but we decided to turn around before we saw everything. It was getting a little dark. So this weekend we are hanging out at Roosevelt and packing. It will be fun. On Sunday, we are going on a 5 mile hike and then going to see Old Faithful again. Well I might have some more time to write before I come home, but if I don't then I'll see you all soon.

Everyone's Leaving

Hey everyone, not that I'm counting but I have 2 weeks and 4 days until I'm on the road to come home. Everyone is leaving so I have just been hanging out with everyone. Last weekend we went to a fair in Livingston. Let me tell you it was smaller than Ag Days, which is really sad. I had some friends that were in the pig wrestling contest. It was so funny. They did a really good job but they didn't win. Then on Sunday, we went to watch the Meteor Shower. It was really cool. There was about 12 of us talking so we didn't have to worry about any animals. It was really cool to hang out with everyone. This week I really haven't done much. This Tuesday, I'm going on a 8 miles hike in the morning and then a 5 mile hike in the evening. I am going to be so tired. But I only need 5 more miles for my 100 mile club. So I can't wait to see everyone and I hope everyone is doing OK. Later.

Winter

So I know that most of you have heard that I'm coming back for the winter in Yellowstone. Well it is true. I got the job and I will be coming back. My last day here is September 5. Then I will be heading over to Matt and Anne's house. Then I am going on vacation with Mom in Wisconsin. I know you all think I have been on vacation all summer but really I have been working. I promise. Then I will be coming home. Since I am going to miss out on Thanksgiving and Christmas, I am planning to have a get together when I get back. I will get in touch with everyone to tell them when. And I will be home for about a month. I can't wait to see everyone. Later.

My Roommate Left

So yesterday I took Mary to the airport. It was a little lonely last night. With half of the room empty. But we had a good summer together. And I don't think it would have been as much fun with anyone else. Or I don't think I could have made it with some of these other people. We had heard of so many horror stories from people about there roommates and they always asked how it was going to us and we got along great. I'm going to miss her. But last Wednesday, we had an employee day. It was all about the employees, we had a dinner and also a dance. It was a lot of fun. Then the next night we had a room full because we were watching the movie 300. It is a great movie. That was nice. On Friday, we went to Bozeman and we went to the races. And I had a taco in a bag. That was just like being at home. The race got rained out half way through. So we went back to the hotel and watched tv. It was nice to watch tv, sitting in air and sleeping in a queen bed. It was nice. Then I took her to the airport and came back. So today, I had to work and I went to lunch and we had fried chicken and mashed potatoes and corn. I have been asking for that for the last month. It was so good. Well I'm getting ready to ride around. So Later.

Tetons

So this last Wednesday, I went down to the Tetons with some people from here. We went camping. It was a lot of fun. But since I didn't have a tent, Mary and I stayed in my jeep. And the other ladies stayed in tents. There were 7 of us all together. It rained everyday. But it was fun to hang out with all of them. The first night it stopped raining right before we got there. So we all just hung out and played cards. Then that next morning Me, Mary, Jessica, and Karen went on a hike. We went on Disappointment Peak. It is a 4.6 mile hike up the one of the Tetons. We got a mile and a half before Karen wanted to turn around. So I didn't get to do it all. But I can say I hiked the Tetons. That's cool. Then that night is was really raining so we put up a tarp and made ourselves a little tent and we put the picnic table under it. What 7 women can do! It was a lot of fun. We were just done eating and we heard some birds going crazy. So we all got up to see what was going on. When we got over there, Becca saw a grizzly bear swimming in the water. So we had to hurry and put all the food in the bear box while someone watched the bear. It was a little crazy. At that point I was glad to be in my jeep. Well the next morning we got up and saw the bear again swimming in the water. We think he was fishing. Then we came back. Well, it's that time of the year that the bison start finding there mates. It is kind of funny to watch because the guy goes and finds a girl that he likes and he sticks by her. And they walk right beside each other. So all the bison are paired off at the moment. So cute. But it's weird because when another bison comes and likes the girl , the other knows that if the other one is bigger to leave and let him have the girl but if they are the same size they fight. Just like guys. Well yesterday, I went on a hike called Bunson Peak. It is 2 miles up a mountain. (I didn't say hill I said Mountain) and 2 miles down. Of course. It was a little hard, but I made it and I'm so glad I did. It was beautiful. Today I worked and I think I'm going to go walking a couple of miles. Well that's all for today. Later

Softball Game

So this weekend I was in a softball tournment. We won 3 games and lost 2. We came in 4th. There were 14 teams. So we did really well. It was a lot of fun. We played one game on Friday, two games on Saturday, and two games on Sunday. I am really sore. I slept 13 hours last night so recover. I also started winter reservations. They are horrible. I have already taken 5 calls today. And I only get 25 cents extra. Not worth it. But still it is fun. So I have 20 more miles to go on my 100 mile hike club. Well thats all for now. Later

Good News!!!

So yesterday, we went to Bozeman to go to walmart. We stopped at this sandwich place and when we walked in one of the girls says. Dennis Quaid is sitting right over there. And yes the real Dennis Quaid. The Actor. It was the coolest thing. We just let him eat and talking to his wife. He smiled at me. So cool. Well I have to go. Just wanted to let everyone know. Later

Work, Work, Work

So all I have been doing since Mom and Allen left is work. For the last 7 days I have had to work 7-6. It has been crazy. On Tuesday, I was asked to play on a softball team. We have a tournament this next weekend. It is slow pitch. So we have been trying to practice because I haven't played in a while. On Wednesday, I played tennis. And on Thursday, I played volleyball for 3 1/2 hours. We lost overall but both games were really close and we went to 3 games a match. It was a lot of fun. So I am resting tonight and getting some sleep. I just realized that I have hiked 70 miles this summer so far, so I'm joining the 100 mile club so that I can get a pin and a t-shirt. And I will feel really good about it when I am done. Well that's all that's new. Later

What A Week

Sorry everyone it has been one long week. As most of you know, Mom and Allen came out. It was so much fun but I am so tired. I think I saw more in the week they were here then in the 2 1/2 months I have been here. I had already seen most of it but it was all together in 5 days. But overall I had an awesome time and I think they did too. I'm so lucky to have a boss that was nice enough to give me 5 days off in a row so I could spend time with them. So I'm just going to tell you a little about each day that they were here.
Sunday and Monday- I had to work both of these days. Mom and Allen got here around 3pm. I was on break and was walking down to see if they were here and they were walking up. It was awesome to see them. Sunday night we just went out for a drive on the upper part of the park. On Monday night we took an Old Yellow Bus tour. It was really cool. I thought. We saw 3 black bears and 1 cub. There were so cute. After that we all just went to bed.
Tuesday- On Tuesday, we went to Bozeman. We went shopping. It was nice. Then we went down through Big Sky and into West Yellowstone. We looked for where the fire was at but we didn't see it. We ate at Famous Dave's BBQ. So good it reminded me of Matt and Anne's wedding. Then we stayed at Canyon that night.
Wednesday- Even though this is my favorite holiday I didn't see any fireworks. :( But that was ok. We decided to stay in the park because everyone else would be going to watch the fireworks. We got up early this day and we went over Dunraven Pass. We saw a Mom Grizzly Bear and her two cubs. I guess they have been there for 3 weeks. Then we heard about a kill of a bison in Lamar Valley. When we got there was a wolf sitting right by it. He had just ate and was sitting by the area. After that we went back down to Hayden Valley. Where we saw 2 more wolves. They were both gray. After that we went down to Bridge Bay and we went on a Scenic Cruiser ride on the Lake. I didn't get wet this time. Then we stayed in Mammoth that night. Allen went back out to Lamar Valley and Mom and I went to Sheepeaters Cliff. Then we drove around and went up to the upper terraces. It was a lot of fun.
Thursday- We got up early at 7:00am. And we went out to Lamar Valley to see if we could see anything that was on the kill. We didn't see anything. But when we got farther down in Lamar Valley we saw a Mom Black Bear and 2 cubs and also a Black wolf. Then we headed out and over the Beartooth Highway. It was a long drive. When we got back we went down to Dunraven Pass to see if the Grizzly Mom and 2 cubs were still there. We didn't see them so we headed back up to Roosevelt. We went on a Old West Cookout. It was hot but very good food. A Black Bear walked by when we were eating. Then we went back and stayed at Canyon.
Friday- We stayed at Canyon and we went to see the Upper and Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. From every direction. Then we went to Old Faithful and watched the geyser go off. We got there right after 4pm, so we didn't get to call the college and have them see us on the web cam. Sorry guys. We were thinking about you. Then we ate at Old Faithful Inn that night. Good food and Awesome dessert. I got us to stay in the Old House at the Inn. I thought Mom would love that. It is like a log cabin style. But of course out our window they were doing construction.
Saturday- It was our last day to spend together. How sad. But I will be home in less than 2 months. I can't believe it has been that long. We went down to the Tetons today. Mom and Allen were remembering when they got married 10 years ago. It was a nice time down there and beautiful. We saw 4 moose. Around the same area. Mom was worried she wasn't going to get to see any. But 4 is awesome. Then we came back up to my home- Mammoth. And they are leaving in the morning. I already said bye to them and miss them already. But I can't believe I am going to say this but I can't wait to go back to work.
So overall is was a great and exhausting Week. So I'm going to go to bed now and I hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Loving It

If anyone is wondering I'm still loving it out here. Thrusday, I went down to Old Faithful and Mary went with me because she hadn't seen it yet. We met up with Patty Owens for lunch. We ate at the Old Faithful Inn. It was a very good meal. And we had a very nice visit. It was good to see someone from back home. Then we went walking around the boardwalks and we saw Old Faithful go off. It was still really cool. I was going to take a video, but my battery's died right when I started. So maybe next time. That night I went rafting and it was so much fun. It was only class 1 or 2 at times. But we had really good guides and it was a lot of fun. So yesterday I worked all day and so I wanted to go do something so I went on an Old Yellow Bus tour. I got there and they said no one had purchased a ticket so I finally talked a family into going on it. So I could go free. Always a good thing. On our tour we saw a black wolf and a black bear about 50 yards away from each other. It was really cool. The family was really happy I talked them into going. Well thats all and Mom and Allen get here tomorrow. I can't wait. Miss ya.

Good Weekend

Hey everyone this weekend was awesome. On Friday, we went down to the Lake area. We set up our tent and went around looking. It was really pretty. We saw another bear. Then we went on a Sunset Tour. It was really pretty, I put some pictures up. Then we went to the tent site and there was a bison standing right by our tent. We were stuck in the van for 30 minutes because he wouldn't leave and he just keep getting closer. It was really funny. Then finally we went down to the other campsite and sat by the fire. It was really nice. There were about 15 of us. So that night I slept in the van because the bison just scared me a little. It was freezing. The next day I slept in because I didn't get to sleep really good until the sun came out and it started to warm up. Then we went to lunch and guess what I rode a motorcycle. For about 30 minutes all together. It was a lot of fun. Then we went on the guided fishing boat. We didn't want to fish so we decided to go just on a scenic ride. We went on some ruff waters. And I got drenched head to toe. It was so cold they had to but me in a suit. It was bright yellow. It was to warm me up. It worked until we had to go back the way we came and I got wet again but I had the suit on so it was better. But overall it was really cool. After we got back and I changed and was getting warm, we had a cookout. It was all of reservations and we got steak. And watermelon. That was my favorite. And then we came back to Mammoth. Tomorrow I have to work 7 to 6. So I'm going to bed. Later.

What a Couple of Days

Hey everyone, first of all before I tell you this story I want you to know that I am Safe and I did the right thing and I didn't freak out. So after I say that this is what happen. Tuesday I went on a hike with 3 other people. We were walking this nice trail that we have walked a couple of times before. This time it happened. We were walking I was looking around to see if any animals and I looked right in front of us and there was a bear. Yes a black bear. It was about 50 feet away. Very scary. But we knew what to do. We starting talking louder and singing to make sure he knew we were there and we weren't going to hurt him. We also started slowly walking backwards. When he knew we were there he ran across the road away from us. We weren't to far from the road. So we waited to make sure there weren't any others around the area. And when we didn't see anything we decided to keep going on the hike because a bear was not going to stop us. lol. So we were coming back on the hike and I was like "Was this were the bear was?" Then another lady said yep there it is. This one was the same distance but he just looked at us for a long time. So we slowly started going backwards and singing but the only song that came into our heads at that time was Old McDonald had A Farm. What a song right. But he went the other direction. We had people watching us from the road and they said that there were 2 of them one of both sides of the road. Little scary but it was cool. It happened so fast that I didn't have time to get my camera out. Thats ok I would rather be safe and not attacked like some people from Champ said I was going to. So the next day we drove down there to see if they were still there. We drove down a back road and one was walking right in front of us. It was a last minute thing to go see, so none of us had cameras with us. That's ok. Then yesterday I went on a hike about 2 miles but 1 of it was straight up. That was hard. Then we were on our way back and we saw a Moose laying in the water. He was so cute. Then last night I played volleyball with my team. I'm the caption, just because I really wanted to play and my team made me the caption. We won the first game and lost the last two. But they were really close. It was alot of fun. So today we are going down to the lake area to campout tonight. And do some really cool stuff with reservations. I'll keep you updated when I get back. And I'll have lots of pictures. What A Weekend

So this weekend was awesome. First of all, I went to a rodeo on Friday. It was a really good rodeo. I wasn't sure if it would be good or not but it was really good. Then on Saturday, we went down to Grand Tetons. It was so amazing. We went down to Grant and got a room down there. We were in a cabin and it wasn't the best. Good thing it was for the employees and not the guest. Then we headed down to the Tetons. We drove down and took pictures and then we went and ate at this restaurant where we sat on the balcony and looked at the mountains while we were eating. It was amazing. Then we went to Jenny Lake. Where we took a boat over the lake for about 10 min. Then we went on a hike up to a waterfall. It started raining but Becca and I still went on up to see the waterfall while the other two headed back down. When we got up there it started hailing on us. It was weird because it was the only time I can say that I got sunburned while it was hailing. Then we went into Jackson and ate at a BBQ place. It was really good to get to eat some good food for once. And then we saw an airplane. I haven't seen one of them for 2 months, they were all making fun of me. So the next day, we went driving around and saw some more waterfalls and some other wonderful places. Now I'm going to bed cause it has been a long couple of days. Miss Ya.

Wow so after I read this I realized that I hadn't mentioned any of the animals that I saw. We saw a male moose, they called him Marty the Moose. We saw him at Moose Junction. What a name. Then later we saw a Mom Moose with it's baby. They were cute. But she noticed that we were there and so she went to hide the baby. Also while we were at Grant, we saw a Grizzly. Apparently we were sitting in the van looking out the window and he walked right behind us. But all of a sudden we saw people running out of the dinning room, so we knew something was going on. We drove down the road and I saw it walking right toward us. He was really big. But then we walked into the wooded area so we lost him. A little later while we were waiting for him to come back out, an elk went into the woods. So we thought that we were going to see a kill. That would have been really cool to see. The next day we saw some pronghorn and she had a little baby with her. And when we were watching the sunset we saw an otter and a beaver. Well I think that's all so Later.

Cookout

So today was awesome. We went on a cookout and had steak to eat. It was awesome. I am going to tell everyone that comes to the park that they need to go on this tour. And the good thing is I get to go again when Mom and Allen come out. Today I saw 3 black bears. They are so pretty. We also saw a double rainbow. It was the brightest rainbow I have ever seen. And there were two of them. I am putting up some pictures and I hope that I can get them to work. I also went fishing today. It was fun, but we didn't catch anything. And just to let everyone know, we didn't get any snow. That made me sad. Well talk to ya all later. Miss ya.

Hey Everyone

So today I had my first moment of home sickness. Well the first one that I'm going to admit to. I got an email from Tim today. And he said that he went to Holiday World and rode on the roller coasters. It hit me that I don't get to do that with them this summer. I loved it last time and I couldn't wait to do it again. Well it didn't last that long cause I realized that I get to do a lot out here that you guys don't get to do. And I will go to Holiday world some other time with them. So I have been walking on this hike for the last week. It is a 10 mile hike round trip. So we decided to to walk a little each night and make it up to the 10 miles. So yesterday we were at about 2 miles and a storm came out of nowhere and we were drenched. So we had to walk the 2 miles back in the rain. It was so funny. I had a lot of fun. Then we got home and all of a sudden, no more storm, the sun was shining and there were no more clouds. The weirdest weather out here. Well every Tuesday and Thursday I go and play volleyball. I have been trying to get people to play forever. They decided to have a league go on this year. So I am trying to get a team of reservation agents to play. They aren't liking the idea. So far I have 3 guys and myself. I'm excited about playing. We will be playing all different teams in different departments. Well we are in a winter watch tonight. Yep I said winter and it is June. That is just the coolest thing ever. I think I'm the only one that is excited. Well I'm going to go. So talk to you all later. Miss Ya.

Long Time

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't written on here in a while. I have been really busy. So let me fill you in on what all I have done. So on Monday, we went on a Yellowstone in a Day tour. It was really cool. And the good part about it was that we got paid to go on it. We started out at Mammoth at 8 in the morning. We went to the terraces and learned more about all of that area. Then we went to Madison Campground, here we saw some of the different campsites. That is really why we got paid. Then we went to the Lower Geyser Basin. There we saw the Fountain geyser go off. It only goes off once a day. So that was really cool to see. At the same time another one that is right beside it was going off. It was so windy that we had to brace ourselves so we didn't fall. It was fun. Then we headed down to the Old Faithful area. We saw Old Faithful go off while we were eating on the balcony. That was cool cause it was a different view. Then as we were going to meet the other people, one of the guys stopped us. This was because Beehive was getting ready to go off. This was really neat because it has only gone off 4 times in the last 3 months. So we were really lucky. Then we went down to Grant to see some of the rooms. Then off we went to the lake area. We took a picture there and then went on to canyon area. We were then on our way back home. Which we were all excited about, because it is a long day when you are driving all thru the park.
For the next 2 days all I did was work. What fun. I actually do work out here. But really it is just like a big vacation like you said Aunt Di. I love it.
Then on Thursday we went on a Photo Safari. It was really early. We had to be ready and at the hotel at Lake at 5:40 am. Yes am. Can you believe I was up that early. Well anyways, I had to share a room with 4 other women. It was a fun night but we didn't end up going to bed until about 12 or 12:30, mostly cause I wouldn't let them.lol. Then like I said we didn't have to be ready til 5:40 but you know what time their alarms went off. 4:30am. I was a little upset, and most of you that know me know that I'm not a morning person so I rolled under the bed so I could sleep an extra hour. They all made fun of me. Anyways I have pictures of what we saw on this tour that you guys will have to look at. It was so fun. We did see a grizzly bear. It was the same one I saw a couple of weeks ago at mud volcano. So as you can see I have been very busy. I miss all of you and can't wait to see you. Later.

Can't Believe It

Everyday that I'm here I keep thinking, "Wow I really live and work out here!" It is amazing. Today was a good day. We saw a wolf run right out in front of us. It was out of no where so none of us had our cameras ready. That was in Lamar Valley. Right down the road we saw a mom grizzly bear and her 2 cubs. They were so cute. They again were to far to get with my camera. They were also really cute. Then we went over the beartooth highway. There was snow everywhere. It was awesome. I was playing out in it and making snowballs. We waited in line to go over it. We were like the 10th vehicle. It was so pretty. I loved it. Then we went to a town called Red Lodge. It was a nice little town. Very friendly people. Betty saw a candy store so they had to stop at it. That was not a good idea. We all walked out with bags of candy. It was $6 for a pound of whatever. Well that was my day today. Yesterday I woke up to it snowing. :) And we were suppose to get t-storms. So we decided to go to Bozeman and see Pirates 3. It was a really good movie. Tomorrow I'm going on a hike and taking a day to rest. Then on Monday we are going on a Yellowstone in a Day tour. And we get paid to do it. That is always good. Well thats all for now. SNOW

Guess what, yesterday it SNOWED!! It was so pretty. Today it did a little bit, but not much. It is suppose to snow the next couple of days. But it isn't sticking. That stinks. But it was still really pretty. I was the only one that was excited about it. I wonder why? O well. Everything is going great. I have 3 days off next week. I think we are going to the Tetons. That will be fun. I don't know what else I'm going to do on the other days off. Hopefully hike in the southern parts of the park. I can't wait. Well that's all I really have to say today. I haven't seen anything interesting or done anything. Hopefully this weekend I will have more pictures and more interesting things to tell you all about. Later

Finally A Day Off!!!

So I feel like I just came out here to work and not enjoy the park. But today and tomorrow, I have off. That is exciting. We got to ride on the old yellow bus the other day like I said. It was really cool. They put the top down, so it was a little chilly. But as most of you know I was dressed warm. Then that night we went to find this cemetery. Of course it was up this huge hill and we still couldn't find it. Thats ok it was a good hike. Well today I went to church, then we went down to Norris Geyser Basin. It was really pretty. Just to let everyone know, I got the second picture link to work. I hope it works for everyone. We are going bowling tonight. Everyone in reservations is going. It will be alot of fun. Its free and so is the pizza. Always a good thing. Well everything is going well. I'm getting along good with my roommate. And so I can't wait to hear from everyone. I miss you all. Later

Bikers

Ok, so I had to work an 11 hour day today. That was horrible. But the good part was at lunch, we met some biker guys. They had really cool motorcycles. We asked them for rides, they said ok. IF ONLY WE DIDN'T HAVE TO GO BACK TO WORK. I went into work and acted sick and said I needed to go to the hospital and some bikers would take me. They just laughed. It was pretty funny. Well other than that I got a roommate. She is pretty cool. She is in housekeeping. Which is probably not a good thing, cause this is me you know. Well anyways I found it weird that she had been to Mexico to build a house like I had. It was the same group down there also. Well other than that she is from Oklahoma and 26. She is going to school to be a hotel manager. Tomorrow I get to ride in one of the old yellow buses. That will be cool. Also I get to go on another tour of yellowstone on the bus. Then we get to go on a photo safari. That will be fun. And it is all for FREE. Always good. Sunday we get to go bowling. Well everything else is the same. It is wonderful out here. It is so pretty. Happy Mothers Day

So first of all Happy Mothers Day to everyone.
So yesterday, I had a day off, finally. We went over to tower and then we went down to canyon. Up by tower, we saw a black bear. It was very pretty. The ranger had its lights on and all these people were in the road. So I had to slow down and the ranger yelled at me to keep moving and don't stop. I was thinking you really want me to drive the speed limit while all these people are walking down the middle of the road and you have your lights on. But I didn't say it I understand what he was doing. Then when we went down to canyon, we saw a grizzly bear. It was far enough away but then it walked up to us. It got way to close to us. It was about 25 yards. People are suppose to be 100 yards away. And I was so mad at some of the people. Because they had their children just running around while a bear is just walking around. This one little boy was walking around by me and I asked him where his parents were. He said I don't know over there somewhere. I was like you need to go find them. I couldn't believe that the parents were just letting them walk around. I know that Mom would have had me hand and hand and as far away as possible. Even though Allen would have been right up by the bear. It was a girl bear with a collar. I guess she had gotten in some trouble last year to they had to collar her. But she was so cute. Well that was about my day.
Side note...Thanks Mom for everything. And I hope you have a Happy Mothers Day. I love you and miss you.

Another Good Day

So it has been a weird week. I have been working 8 or 9 hours a day. It has been a little overwhelming. But today, we decided to go on a drive out toward lamar valley. So on our way a grizzly bear walked right out in front of us. It was so cool. So far I've seen 3 grizzlies and 2 black bears. And another thing I saw was a wolf and its 2 pups. There were so cute. There was a den not to far from the road. They put up signs so no one would walk any farther. That was my exciting day today. On Sunday, we went to west Yellowstone. We saw a bald eagle. That was cool. It was a really pretty drive. So anyways, people are starting to come into the park and everyday more and more people come in. I told Betty today, that if it was July and that bear had walked out onto the road, traffic would have been stopped for hours.
Everything is still going well for me. I love it out here. So here is my address if anyone wants to write me.

Never Going To Believe What I Ate!

Ok, so most of you know that I don't like to try anything new. But Thursday night we had what is called a shakedown at the Mammoth Dinning Room. We had to sit at a table with 3 other people. We all had to eat something different. It was to get the cooks and the other people ready for the opening of the dinning room on Friday. Well the lady sitting beside me ordered the steak and most of the other things were seafood. So guess what I ordered. A bison steak. Yep, bison. Can you believe I tried that. I can't. It was ok, I had to cut it into little pieces cause it was a little chewy. And I couldn't handle eating a lot at one time. So I was doing fine until one of the ladies said, "Carrie you remember the bison that was walking around here the last couple of days and we didn't see it today. He is what your eating." So at that point I was done with my meal. Although I know that it wasn't that one bison. Because they have bison ranches around here like we have cows. Well other than that everything is going fine. I'm working on my own on the phones. It is a little crazy at times. But it is ok. Well I have to go work some more so later.

Gonna be a bear

OK, today was an ok day. I started working on my own. It was a little crazy. I had to get help a lot cause it seems that everyone that had the weird reservations called me. O well I made it through it. Then we went on a hike that was a mile and a half. It was a steep incline on the way up. It was a little hard. Well I saw this and thought it was so funny and wanted everyone to read it.
Gonna be a bear
In this life I'm a woman. In my next life, I'd like to come back as a bear. When you're a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that.
Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that too.
When you're a girl bear, you birth your children(who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs, I could definitely deal with that.
If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too. I could deal with that.
If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat.
YUP, GONNA BE A BEAR!!

Ok crazy

Ok, I know I just wrote like a couple of hours ago. But I have to put this one in. We were getting ready to go on a hike. So we got out of the car and started to walk to the path. I was just kidding around and said "Ok, I'm done that's enough of a hike" then I turned around and there was a black bear about 100 feet away from us just walking to us. So we walked (very slowly) back to the car and watched it and took pictures. Then it just walked right up the path we were going to walk up. It I wouldn't have been joking he would have followed us and then scared us to death. I'm so thankful I was joking around. That was probably the scariest moment I have had here so far. But I'm ok so not to worry. So sorry Champ people It didn't eat me today, like you guys thought. haha. Just kidding. I miss all of you guys.

Yesterday!!

Hey everyone. Yesterday was awesome. We saw 8 wolves. 2 were about 50 yards away and the others were probably 150 yards away. It was really cool to see them. I almost hit a bison. It ran right down a hill in front of me, but I stopped just in time. That would have been a story. We just missed out on seeing 2 more grizzly bears. We went to see old faithful. It was very cool. And we saw more other geysers. It was a very good day, except for that fact that we were in the car most of the day. But overall it was a very good day. Later

More Days in Yellowstone

So this week has been kind of crazy. Learning all the new keys for the computer system. But everyone keeps telling me that once I get on the floor it won't be as bad. Well I'm hoping they are telling me the truth. And whats funny is that at Champ, I was so excited about not having the safety meeting anymore. Well guess what? Today we had a safety meeting. So I know that all of you that are reading this from Champ are laughing. And Hi to all of you. I miss you guys. Not so much the work, but I do miss you guys. Well a couple of days ago, I saw some bison and their calves. They were so cute. And then we go on a hike everyday after supper, so yesterday this lady said she knew an easy one. Well we walked for a miles and a half and we were like "Ok how much farther" The lady then told us that she didn't really know where we were going. So we ended up walking around 3 miles. It was a little crazy at the time. But it was a good walk overall. Then someone I work with wants to go on an 8 mile hike this weekend. We are still trying to decide if we want to try that one or not. Well so far I am having a great time. Later

2 Grizzly Bears

Today was awesome!! I saw two grizzly bears in the park. They were cubs we think around 2 years old. We were just across the street from them. We watched them for probably an hour. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen. They were very playful with each other. Also when I woke up this morning I looked outside and we had 2 inches of snow on the ground. So I knew my day was going to be awesome. We went on a tour thru the whole park. We saw waterfalls and geysers and hot springs and everything else. I put some pictures up. It was so pretty because of the snow. Well tomorrow we go back to the office but o well. I can't wait to see what else I'm going to see as this summer goes on. Later.

I"M THERE

Hey everyone, I'm here. I started today, but just watched videos really. It is awesome here. I have already seen a black bear, coyote, elk, & moose. I have so much to see. I have probley already seen some I didn't put, but I'm on a time limit so I can't put everything at the moment. I miss you all. Tomorrow I start the training, which is going to be the hardest thing so far. But I can't wait. On Thursday I'm taking a tour thru the park. HALF WAY THERE

Hey everyone, I’m in South Dakota. I’m half way there. I’m still really excited about going even though it was hard to say bye to everyone. I miss everyone already. Today we just drove for 12 hours, it was boring. I slept most of the way. Allen drove the whole way, he wouldn’t let me drive. Just kidding. I offered but he said that he was ok so I let him drive. Tomorrow we are driving 11 hours and I’m going to drive some of it. So I’m going to go to bed now so I can get up early. Talk to you guys later. Love ya.

Fantastico Weekend

10 Days until I leave for Yellowstone

This weekend I went up to Matt and Anne's house. It was awesome to get to see them and hang out with them. And just to let everyone know the fantastico that I put in the title is a word I made up while I was there. (I know that it is not a word and it is spelled really weird.) Well anyways, I went up there Thursday and came home yesterday. I had a little bit of trouble on the way up, the roads can be confusing!! I am glad that Allen is going with me to Yellowstone because I would probably be in the east somewhere if I was going by myself. Thanks Mom for your sense of direction. Just kidding Love you!! As I was saying, I got to see Matt and Anne and their new place. It was very nice. And I can't wait to see you guys again in September! They are going to be the first people I see when I get done working in Yellowstone. Oh by the way, hopefully I won't have 15 dozens eggs in my jeep again when I come up. haha. I'm going to go now as you saw at the top I have 10 days until I leave for Yellowstone, so I have lots of things to get done. It is getting so close. But I still can't wait. Birthday

So my birthday was Thursday. I had a very good one this year. The big 22. Even though everyone at work thought I was only like 19. Well that kind of hurts my feelings. Just kidding. Mom sent me balloons to work, so everyone knew it was my birthday. But then Amy announced it over the speakers. I felt important. Mom also cooked supper and Grandma and Grandpa Mobley came out and ate with us. Grandma made awesome cheesecake. It's my favorite and what I look forward to every year. Allen and Mom got me stuff for Yellowstone - emergency car things just in case. THANK YOU!!! And thanks to everyone else that made my birthday special.

Another thing that people are asking about is what will I be doing in Yellowstone. I will be taking reservations for all the hotels and cabins in the park. I will be on the phone all day long, at my own little desk. I am still really excited about going and can't wait. On my days off hopefully I will be out at the other parts of the park site-seeing, and taking lots of pictures for everyone to see when I get back. I will be at Mammoth Hot Springs at the northern part of Yellowstone. Which is the only part that Verizon has signal. So hopefully I get to use my cell phone to call everyone. So far this is all that I have but in 25 days I will be out there and be able to tell you just what it is like.

Start of a New Beginning!!!

Ok, you guys are going to have to bare with me on this because I don't know just how much I will get to use the internet in Yellowstone. But I hope that I will be able to use it at least once a week so I can tell everyone on here how I am doing and what I am doing. So here is my first blog. Its been a year to start remembering already. By now everyone knows that I'm going to Yellowstone. If you didn't well just by reading the top of the page you do. I'm really excited about this and I can't wait. I have to be out there on April 17, which means I am leaving on the 13th. It will take 24 hours to get there. Allen is going with me and is going to fly home. Did I say how excited about this I am. Well I am sooo excited. So I am going to try to write on here as much as I can to tell everyone what is going on in my life in yellowstone. I can't wait for the rest of this year the the surprises that will come my way I hope everyone is as excited about 2007 as ME. God Bless.
